All teachers, students and spectators
are to read and be fully conversant with the emergency action plan,
as revised from time to time.
Teachers are fully responsible for the evacuation of their own class
and taking the register to confirm everyone in the class is accounted
for.
No child is to be taken away from the assembly point without
informing their class teacher.
EMERGENCY SIGNAL:
One long, loud blast of the whistle
This will signal an emergency and all teachers, swimmers, lifeguards,
helpers and parents to stop and listen to any instructions given.
EMERGENCY PHONE TO BE FOUND:
Stourfield School:
Located via entrance to pool in the corridor
St Mark's Primary School:
In lobby next to swimming pool door.
Shamba:
Poolside on wall near fire bell.
EVACUATION
Nominated
teacher will instruct all to evacuate the building.
(Agreed at beginning of each term and all staff to be told and a
written reference to be kept in Gale’s registers)
Staff
and swimmers to use the emergency exits found at the following:
Stourfield:
At shallow end near playground side
St Mark's:
Exit at far end of pool.
Shamba:
Via paddling pool end.
EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY POINTS:
Stourfield Junior School:
Playground, via exit and directly into playground collect furthest
away from building.
St Mark's Primary School:
Playground.
Shamba Holiday Park:
Information Centre at the entrance of the park via exit
along the side of the owners home
SPECTATORS
Stourfield:
Follow instructions given by nominated teacher/poolside helper and exit
via fire exit after swimmers.
St Mark's :
Follow instructions given by nominated teacher/poolside helper.
Shamba:
Follow instructions given by nominated teacher/poolside helper and exit
via fire exit after swimmers.
LIFE-GUARD
OR POOLSIDE HELPER’S
Must be aware of the location of the FIRST
AID BOX at the start of every session.
Are
responsible for taking it out to the assembly point during an
evacuation.
FIRE/BOMB
THREAT
Building to be evacuated quickly and calmly.
Teachers
are responsible for their own class and will escort them to the
assembly point and check their class register.
Survival
blankets to be handed out if necessary from first aid box.
MAJOR
INCIDENT
Emergency signal to be sounded.
Listen
and carry out instructions from nominated teacher / lifeguard,
if pool evacuation is required class teachers are to keep all
swimmers calm and reassured.
MAJOR/MINOR
INCIDENT TO A MEMBER OF YOUR CLASS
Sound
the emergency signal if requiring assistance.
Ensure
the safety of the class first before dealing with the accident.
An
entry should be placed in the accident book and a written report
may also be necessary.
CONTAMINATION
OF THE POOL
If the pool become cloudy and the pool floor is difficult
to see clear the pool.
Any
unfamiliar smells clear the pool and area.
Any
chemical clouds occur, evacuate the pool.
If
the pool has been soiled immediately inform the lifeguard/nominated
teacher and clear the pool.
Put
EAP into action if necessary.
FOLLOWING
AN EVACUATION
No
one to re-enter the pool area until told safe to do so by
a member of staff
(or Emergency Services if applicable).
